CREDIT REQUIREMENTS -- 120 credits

 

    120   credits required, minimum of 40% allowed in General  Education.

             30   credits devoted to major (see below)                           

             55   credits of Gen Ed  (see below).

             35   credits of Free Electives and courses for the minor or language requirement.

                     

             48      credits (of the total 120)  must be upper division (at the 3000 level or

              above).

             A minimum of 12 of these credits must be in Art History at the 3000/4000

              level.

 

              6    credits of one Language at the 200 level, or a Minor in any subject.

Mansfield University students who wish to take courses at another institution for transfer to Mansfield must complete a Request to Transfer Credit Form before taking the course work.  This can be obtained online from the Registrar's Office. 

 

Only credits from regionally accredited institutions may be approved for transfer.

Information Literacy Courses. ("I")

      All  students must complete 3 "I" courses.

      Students who transfer in 30-61 credits must complete 2 "I" courses.

    Students who transfer in 61 or more credits must take one "I" course.

      Two “I” courses must be at the upper division (260 or above).

Global Courses. ("G")

       All  students must complete 3 “G” courses.

Students who transfer in 30-61 credits must complete 2 “G” courses.

Students who transfer in 61 or more credits must take one “G” course.

At least one semester, and preferably one year, prior to their intended graduation, students must complete an Intent to Graduate Form (available at the Registrar's Office).  

 

                  

 

Transferring Credits from other Universities

The Transfer Coordinator in the Admissions Office evaluates all courses the student has taken at other institutions.  Credits are evaluated on a course-by-course basis.  

No more than 67 credits may be transferred from two-year institutions. 

There is no limit on the number of credits accepted from accredited four-year colleges and universities. 

Students must have earned a 2.0 GPA from prior institutions to be eligible for transfer.

 Students must complete 50% of courses in their MAJOR at Mansfield University.  

 This means out of the required 30 credits required for the B.A. in Art History, at least 15 credits (5 courses) must be done at Mansfield.

 Students must complete a minimum of 25% of the total degree credit requirements at Mansfield University.

 This means out of the required 120 credits required for the B.A. in Art History, at least 30 credits (10 courses) must be done at Mansfield.  These may include Art History courses. 

The student’s last 30 credit hours must be taken at Mansfield unless the Provost approves an exception through a Petition.
